On May 10, the "Dong Jin Cup" 2025 World Triathlon Cup Chengdu and the Chengdu&Chongqing Twin Cities Triathlon Open started at the Jintang County International Triathlon venue.
At the opening ceremony, Vice President of the World Triathlon Shin Otsuka presented trophies to the Chinese Triathlon Sports Association and the People's Government of Jintang County for their outstanding contributions to the development of the World Triathlon sport.

This event is co-hosted by the Chinese Triathlon Sports Association, the Sports Bureau of Sichuan Province, the Chongqing Municipality Bureau of Sports and the People's Government of Chengdu Municipality and it is co-organized by the Sports Bureau of Chengdu Municipality and the People's Government of Jintang County. Notably, the World Cup has attracted 114 world-class athletes from 27 countries and regions, including Australia, Belgium, Poland and Germany. The two-day event has welcomed 866 domestic participants.

This event is characterized by high standards, a wide range of participants and strong competitor capabilities, but it also presents multi-dimensional improvements in participant experience, community interaction and sports tourism integration, reflecting Jintang's comprehensive development model - "sports setting the stage, culture and tourism taking the spotlight, and benefits shared by all."
Besides, the race course has been optimized and upgraded. The cycling track has been carefully optimized and upgraded, with significant improvements to the original cycling track that enhance its overall smoothness — paving the way for athletes to deliver breakthrough performances.
Under the theme "Travel with the Competition," it highlights high-quality tourist routes, popular social media check-in spots, and interactive experiences with traditional intangible cultural sports such as Budaqiu (a hockey-like game). These activities, along with convenient services for dining, accommodation, shopping and entertainment, are designed to meet the full range of athletes' needs beyond the competition.
The 2025 World Triathlon Cup Chengdu brought world-class competition to Jintang, with elite men's and women's categories covering a total distance of 51.5 kilometers.
Reese Vannerson from the United States clinched the first place in the men's elite category with a time of 01:39:42. Shachar Sagiv from Israel and Brandon Copeland from Australia secured the second and third places respectively. Valentina Riasova, a neutral athlete, claimed the top spot in the women's elite category with a time of 01:53:22, followed by Roksana Slupek from Poland and Sara Guerrero Manso from Spain in the second and third places.

Interestingly, since the construction of the International Triathlon Sports Venue in 2011, Jintang has hosted two editions of the Intercontinental Triathlon Cup, four editions of the Chengdu&Chongqing Twin Cities Triathlon Open, eight editions of the Triathlon World Cup. It has been awarded the titles of "Golden Host City of the Triathlon World Cup" and "City with Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Triathlon" by the World Triathlon.
Moreover, Jintang's triathlon legacy goes beyond the races. The county now boasts over 200 registered members of the Chinese Triathlon Association, with 71 local individuals obtaining national first-level judge certificates, three schools being designated as the "first batch of National Triathlon Special Schools," and 12 primary and secondary schools creating city-level Triathlon Special Project Schools and key classes, being twice recognized as "National Advanced Mass Sports Units" by the General Administration of Sports of China.
During this event, titled "Embrace the World Games, Host the Triathlon Event, Light up Jintang," and dedicated to the concepts of "Passionate Competition," "Vibrant City Engagement" and "Benefits for All," Jintang carried out more than 30 featured activities such as city promotion meetings, signing ceremonies for cultural, sports, and tourism projects, cultural performances, and the "Together with Jintang Triathlon" check-in event, consistently driving the transformation of event traffic into economic growth.
Through the construction of a three-dimensional integrated ecosystem of "competitive sports + mass sports + sports industry," Jintang is using triathlon as a link to write a new chapter of high-quality development by combining hosting events, facilitating urban development, promoting industries and benefits for all.
