The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in China hosted a concert - a program of the creative evening "Alkissa" - dedicated to celebrating the centenary of composer, conductor, and People's Artist of Kazakhstan Nurgisa Tlendiyev in Beijing on May 21.

Events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Nurgisa Tlendiyev are planned for 2025 by UNESCO. The anniversary of the renowned Kazakh composer has been included in the calendar of memorable dates recognized by the international organization.

In his address, Governor of Almaty region, Kazakhstan Marat Sultangaziyev said that Kazakhstan and China have been friendly neighbors with mutual respect and mutually beneficial cooperation since ancient times. As a cultural mecca of Kazakhstan, Almaty has not only nurtured numerous outstanding talents, but is also world-famous for its magnificent natural scenery, he added.

Tlendiyev brought Kazakh folk music to the international stage, adding a brilliant chapter to the world's art treasure house. Music is a universal language for all mankind.

Dinzukhra Tlendiyeva, the only daughter of Tlendiyev, paid tribute to the musician by conducting two pieces of music to kick off the concert.
