On June 6, State Grid Suzhou Power Supply Company held a press conference on the practice of fulfilling responsibilities in serving local economic and social development in 2024 and released the "2024 Social Responsibility Report of State Grid Suzhou Power Supply Company."
The Report features five chapters: company profile, responsibility strategy, responsibility performance, responsibility action and responsibility outlook. The document comprehensively demonstrates the company's specific actions, good results and future prospects in fulfilling social responsibilities and serving local development, and interprets the responsibility of "People's Power Industry for the People."
The Report disclosed that in 2024, Suzhou Power Supply Company added 448 kilometers of transmission lines and 2.77 million kilovolt-amperes of substation capacity, and put into operation Jiangsu Province's first 500 kV fully indoor substation in the urban area, pushing Suzhou power grid into a new stage of mutual operation of the "Ten Major Divisions." At the same time, the company successfully withstood 41 high-temperature days above 35°C and 38 high-load days above 30 million kilowatts, effectively responding to the test of "Bebinca," the strongest typhoon in Suzhou's meteorological records.
In terms of optimizing the business environment, Suzhou Power Supply Company has launched 11 "efficient one-stop" services, built a total of 13 "open-door power connection" demonstration parks, implemented the "three zero and three savings" service, and saved users 1.25 billion yuan ($173 million) in power costs. The company ranked first in Jiangsu Province and third in the State Grid in the evaluation of optimizing the power business environment in 2024.
In order to improve the people's living standards, Suzhou Power Supply Company supports the protection and renewal of Suzhou Ancient City by completing 30 projects such as overhead line undergrounding, and piloting the "electric care" smart community digital service. In response to charging problems, the company jointly formulated an implementation plan for charging pile registration, serving more than 100,000 electric vehicle charging piles throughout the year, and built the province's first "photovoltaic storage and charging integrated" electric bicycle charging shed for the benefit of the people.
In terms of accelerating green transformation, in 2024, Suzhou had received 17 million kilowatts of clean electricity from outside the district, accounting for more than half of the city's load. The company has also launched a "one-stop carbon neutral inclusive service center" with a carbon emission reduction transaction volume of 100,000 tons. The city's new distributed photovoltaic installed capacity is 1.73 million kilowatts, which signals a year-on-year increase of 20%. The cumulative distributed photovoltaic installed capacity is 5.54 million kilowatts, ranking first in the province. The company has also built 16 microgrid demonstration projects covering all scenarios, promoted the province's first multi-year green electricity transaction in Suzhou, and the green certificate transaction volume reached 1.3279 million, a record high.
In addition, the company has demonstrated the responsibility of central enterprises in lean management, corporate governance, scientific and technological research, and participation in social governance.
