On Wednesday morning, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference, where spokesperson Zhu Fenglian answered questions from reporters on recent hot issues across the Straits.

Reporter: Recently, the mainland TV series "Legend of Zang Hai" has ranked in the "Top 10 Hot Broadcasts of the Day in Taiwan" for seven consecutive days. Media reports from the island indicate that the series is so captivating that viewers can't bear to stop watching, and they have highlighted the memorable quotes from the series. What’s your comment on the increasing popularity of mainland film and television works among the people on the island?

Zhu Fenglian: Entering a new era, we have promoted cultural prosperity and the development of the cultural industry, achieving new progress and accomplishments. A large number of original cultural masterpieces have emerged, receiving high market recognition and widespread appreciation from audiences. Compatriots on both sides of the Straits share the same language, ethnicity and cultural roots, which naturally leads to an emotional resonance with outstanding film and television works from both sides. TV dramas, movies, and documentaries produced on the mainland are increasingly appreciated and affirmed by the people on the Taiwan island.

With the summer vacation approaching, more than 60 films are scheduled for release and many TV dramas are also ready to be launched. We welcome our compatriots on the island to the mainland to experience a feast of films. We hope that more excellent mainland film and television works can be broadcasted in the island in a timely manner. We are happy to see industry players from both sides work together to create more excellent works, bringing more shared memories of the era and cinematic enjoyment to the people on both sides of the Straits.
