At a regular press briefing of China's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, a reporter from Press Trust of India noted that China is holding talks on rare earth issues with various countries and regions, including the US and the EU, and that India has reportedly also raised the issue with China. India's Ambassador to China Pradeep Kumar Rawat met with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, and a readout from the Foreign Ministry said the two sides exchanged views on issues of mutual concern.

Asked whether the rare earth issue was among the topics discussed and whether China is currently holding talks with India on the issue, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that China has released information on the meeting between Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and Indian Ambassador to China Pradeep Kumar Rawat, and referred the question about rare earth export controls to competent Chinese authorities. "We are willing to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with relevant countries and regions to jointly maintain the stability of the global production and supply chain," Lin said.
