Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun
At the Chinese Foreign Ministry press conference on Tuesday, a reporter referred to a Financial Times report claiming that the EU has canceled the EU-China High-Level Economic and Trade Dialogue because of a lack of progress on trade disputes with China. Asked to comment on the report, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun referred the specific issue to the competent authorities.
Guo said this year marks the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations. At a time of escalating global turbulence and rampant unilateralism and economic coercion, enhanced strategic communication and deepened dialogue and cooperation between China and the EU will benefit both sides and the world, Guo said. China and the EU have maintained communication on trade and economic issues, and "We are willing to work with the EU to implement the important consensus reached by our leaders, strengthen high-level exchanges and dialogue cooperation, and promote the steady and sustained development of China-EU relations," Guo said.
