Commenting on so-called Taiwan Non-Discrimination Act passed by the US House of Representatives, which demands that the US government support Taiwan's accession to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), participation in economic surveillance, access to technical assistance, and eligibility for personnel to hold positions at the IMF, Mao Ning, spokesperson from China's Foreign Ministry, said on Thursday that there is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory. The Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China, and Taiwan has no basis, reason, or right to participate in the UN or other international organizations exclusive to sovereign states.

We urge the US to adhere to the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, abide by international law and the basic norms of international relations, cease advancing relevant bills, stop interfering in China's internal affairs through the Taiwan question, and refrain from sending wrong signals to "Taiwan independence" forces, Mao noted.
