On Wednesday, Chinese toy company Pop Mart confirmed to the Global Times that it has filed a lawsuit against US convenience store chain 7-Eleven over the sale of counterfeit "Labubu" figures. The company did not disclose further details about the case.

The move follows a viral video posted by a US consumer on social media, showing rows of fake Labubu as "Lafufu" dolls on display at a 7-Eleven store, priced at $25 each, nearly the same as the official retail price. However, both the packaging and the dolls were noticeably inferior to genuine Labubu products.

Pop Mart's Labubu toys have gained widespread popularity among global consumers. As of the end of last year, the company had opened more than 200 stores worldwide.

On July 15, the company issued an announcement, saying that the group expect its revenue for the first half of this year to grow by no less than 200 percent year-on-year, and its profit is expected to grow by no less than 350 percent year-on-year.

According to the financial report, in the first half of last year, the company achieved revenue of 4.558 billion yuan ($636 million), with adjusted net profit reaching 1.018 billion yuan. Based on the calculation, Pop Mart's revenue for the first half of this year is expected to be no less than 13.7 billion yuan, with adjusted net profit exceeding 4.6 billion yuan.
