China aims to enhance collaborative governance to ensure AI serves the greater good at the upcoming 2025 World AI Conference & High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance held in Shanghai, a spokesperson of Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
The remarks were made by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun a regular press conference when asked whether China could share details on the arrangements and its expectations of the 2025 World AI Conference & High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance as Chinese Premier Li Qiang will attend and address the opening ceremony of the conference.
Guo said that the rapid development of AI technology has become a key driver of the new wave of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation.
Hosting the 2025 World AI Conference & High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance marks an important step in advancing the Global AI Governance Initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping. The event aspires to serve as a compass for AI innovation, a platform to showcase real-world applications, a catalyst for industrial advancement, and a forum for governance dialogue in the field of artificial intelligence.
Held under the theme "Global Solidarity in the AI Era," the conference has invited high-level representatives from more than 40 countries and international organizations. "We look forward to in-depth exchanges on three key areas," Guo said: "first, deepening innovation cooperation to unlock the potential of AI; second, promoting inclusive development to narrow the AI divide; and third, enhancing collaborative governance to ensure AI serves the greater good."
By fostering solidarity, pursuing shared development, and coordinating joint actions, we aim to guide AI development in a direction that is beneficial, safe, equitable, and orderly for all, Guo added.
