Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun presided over the regular press conference on August 1. A reporter asked, the Cyber Security Association of China today released two cases in which the US government used Germany, South Korea, Singapore and the Netherlands as springboards to launch cyberattacks against China. The report also revealed that in 2024, overseas state-level APT groups launched over 600 cyberattacks against China’s key institutions, targeting critical information infrastructure and important information systems for attack and infiltration. What’s China’s comment on this?
"I have taken note of the relevant report," said Guo, adding that this is the latest evidence of malicious cyberattacks by the US government against China. It once again shows that the US is the number one cyber threat to China and lays bare the US’ hypocrisy as "a-thief-crying-stop-thief" trick on cybersecurity. China will continue to take necessary measures to safeguard its own cybersecurity. We also noted that the US used its allies in Europe and around China as springboards for such malicious cyber activities. China consistently believes that cybersecurity is a common challenge faced by all countries and should be addressed through dialogue and cooperation.
