Asked to comment on US Treasury Secretary Bessent's remarks in a media interview that "we're very happy" with the situation with China, which was viewed as a signal that the Trump administration is looking to remain calm with China before a trade truce expires in November, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on Wednesday referred inquiries on specific issues to the relevant Chinese authorities.

"What I want to stress is that we hope the US side will work together with China to implement the important consensus reached in the phone call between the two heads of state, make good use of the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism, and strive for positive outcomes on the basis of equality, mutual respect, and reciprocity," Mao said.
