The Ministry of Communications announced the preliminary results of the 3rd Reverse Auction, a programme aimed at bringing high-quality internet to underserved areas of Brazil.

A total of 102 rural communities across 18 states will benefit, reaching around 88,000 residents. In addition, connectivity will be extended along more than 430 kilometres of roads, improving communication and safety for drivers.

According to the Brazilian authorities, this marks another stage of a programme which, across the three reverse auctions held so far, has already reached nearly 200,000 people in remote areas, with a total investment of approximately US$47.5 million.

The Ministry of Communications highlighted that access to the internet in rural areas represents a major shift for these communities, offering new opportunities in education, work, healthcare, and public services. Students will be able to follow online lessons, rural producers will gain access to new technologies and information, and families will be better connected to the wider world.
