Singer Aska Yang reassured fans early Sunday morning after falling from a 2-meter stage during a concert in Xining, Northwest China's Qinghai Province, on Saturday night.
"I'm fine, and I'm sorry for making you worry… I feel really embarrassed. Now I'm all good," Yang wrote on his social media account. He thanked the audience, organizers, and medical staff who accompanied him to the hospital.
"The medical staff held my hands tightly, watched over me with care, and constantly checked my condition so I could feel at ease," he added. "I truly love you all... Please don't worry, I'll be fine."
Yang was performing his hit song Over the Hills when a stage lift malfunctioned, causing him to lose his footing and fall about two meters. The concert was paused as staff rushed him to the hospital, where fellow singer Julia Peng later stepped in to continue the show. Witnesses said Yang briefly lost consciousness after hitting his head, according to Beijing Youth Daily.
Later that night, event staff told the Red Star News that Yang's injuries were not serious, describing them as a waist sprain. "He's really okay. Don't worry," a staff member said.
The concert organizers also issued a statement, confirming the accident and stressing that Yang's health and safety were their top priority. "Our on-site medical team responded immediately and transferred Yang to a nearby hospital for a full check-up and treatment. We sincerely apologize for the interruption and the shock caused to the audience," the statement read.
The Xining concert featured four singers: Wilber Pan, Jam Hsiao, Aska Yang, and Julia Peng, with each scheduled to perform for 40 minutes.
Born in 1978 in Taoyuan, the island of Taiwan, Aska Yang is known for hit songs such as Yangcong (Onion), Yicijiuhao (Just Once).
