By Oliveiros Marques, Brasil 247 - Brazil's labor market continued to show strength in July 2025. Data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (CAGED), released by Labor Minister Luiz Marinho on Wednesday (Aug. 27), indicate that all five major economic sectors posted job gains last month.
The services sector led with 50,159 new positions, driven by administrative, transport, and healthcare activities. Commerce followed with 27,325 jobs, especially in retail. Industry added 24,426 jobs, with food production and motor vehicles standing out. Construction grew by 19,066 jobs, while agriculture created 8,795, supported by soybean and orange production.
Over the 12 months from August 2024 to July 2025, Brazil generated 1.5 million formal jobs, bringing the total number of workers with labor contracts to 48.5 million. Analysts highlight that the trend reflects renewed confidence in the economy, alongside targeted credit policies, infrastructure investment, and measures to stimulate domestic production.
Inclusive hiring trendsThe latest figures also reveal progress in social inclusion. Young people aged 18 to 24 accounted for nearly 95,000 new hires, while apprentices under 17 added more than 12,000 jobs. Women recorded significant gains in commerce and services. Hiring of people with disabilities rose by 774.
Brazil's government has framed the positive results as evidence of the economy's ability to withstand external shocks as well as domestic political challenges. Officials argue that the labor market gains demonstrate the effectiveness of public policies aimed at job creation, industrial strengthening, and economic inclusion.
