Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, arrived in Beijing by train on Tuesday afternoon, according to a news report from Phoenix Television.

A train displaying the national flag of North Korea and matching the exterior characteristics of the train previously used by the North Korean leader was seen traveling on a railway section in Beijing on Tuesday afternoon, according to Phoenix Television.

Kim has departed for China by a special train on September 1 to attend the 80th anniversary commemoration for the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the DPRK's Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday, China Central Television reported. 

He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui and other senior party and government officials, according to the announcement.

At the invitation of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China, Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea will come to China to attend the events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, China's foreign ministry spokesperson announced on August 28.

When asked whether the Chinese Foreign Ministry could provide more details about reports claiming leaders of China, Russia and North Korea will meet in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday that, "Regarding the commemorative events for the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, we will release information in due course. I have no information to share on the specifics that you mentioned."
