Chinese Football Association (CFA) decided to openly recruit the head coach of the national men's football team, according to a notice issued by CFA on Friday.

To strengthen the development of the national team, rapidly and effectively enhance its competitive strength and level, and build a national men's football team with strong discipline, fighting spirit, and the ability to bring honor to the country, CFA has decided to launch a global search for a new coach, according to the notice.

The goal is to help the team qualify for the 2030 World Cup and improve the competitive level and FIFA ranking of the team.

The requirements and qualifications mandate that the candidate must have experience as head coach in the final stages of FIFA or continental confederation national team competitions, or experience as head coach in high-level leagues in Europe or Asia. Applicants should be under 60 years old, with no restriction on nationality, said the notice.

Following the elimination of the national team from the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, the CFA decided to end Branko Ivankovic's tenure as head coach of the team in June.

China's latest World Cup hopes came to an end on June 5 following a 1-0 away defeat to Indonesia. Croatian coach Ivankovic said after the match that he "bore significant responsibility" for the team's failure.

Those who are interested in the position should send the application to CFA via email by September 20, said the notice.
