China's Foreign Ministry said on Monday that China has become an important lever in the global innovation landscape, as China's impetus for innovation is strong and dynamic, which has drawn global attention.
The remarks were made by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian during a regular press conference held in Beijing on Monday, in response to a question regarding the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)'s newly released 2025 Global Innovation Index.
According to the WIPO report, China has ranked first globally for the third year in a row, with 24 innovation clusters being included in the top 100 in the world. Additionally, three Chinese clusters were listed among the world's top 10, with the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou innovation cluster taking the top spot for the first time.
Lin noted that he had taken note of the good news. He emphasized that, in recent years, China has intensified efforts to develop new quality productive forces, ramped up innovation investment, consistently improved and refined intellectual property legislation, and strengthened the innovation capacity of its market entities, which have laid solid foundation for propelling high-quality development.
From the "Chang'e" lunar exploration to the "Jiaolong" deep-sea diving, from homegrown large aircraft roaring into the skies to autonomous electric vehicles racing ahead, from humanoid robots dancing gracefully to in-depth exploration of AI large models, China's innovation momentum is strong and dynamic, drawing worldwide attention, Lin noted, adding China has become an important lever in the global innovation landscape.
"In recent years, we have promoted green and renewable energy solutions to effectively facilitate sustainable development in various countries, advocated for enhancing the accessibility of new technologies, and helped Global South countries improve their independent innovation capabilities through skills training," said Lin.
Lin noted that China will adhere to innovation-driven development strategy, continuously deepen international scientific and technological cooperation, and promote the sharing of innovation achievements among more countries to pursue common development and prosperity.
