At the regular press conference of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 10, a reporter asked: According to media reports, in response to China's announcement of countermeasures against Japanese lawmaker Shi Ping (Seki Hei), Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi stated that such action is unacceptable, and Tokyo has requested Beijing swiftly withdraw the measures on Seki. Media comments claimed that China’s first sanctions against a Japanese lawmaker may exacerbate tensions between the two countries. What is China's comment on this?

In response, spokesperson Lin Jian said that Shi Ping is not at all a person with differing views. Shi once held Chinese nationality before acquiring Japanese nationality after moving to Japan. For personal gain, he pledged allegiance to anti-China hostile forces, making baseless slanders and attacks against China. After winning a seat to Japan's House of Councillors, he openly visited the Yasukuni Shrine, which seriously violates the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan and the one-China principle, constitutes gross interference in China’s internal affairs, and severely undermines China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He is a blatant anti-China element.

Lin stressed that China’s countermeasures against Shi Ping are a just action based on Chinese laws to safeguard national interests and align with international practice. Instead of restraining lawmakers from actions that contravene the spirit of four China-Japan political documents, the Japanese government has made unfounded accusations. China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to this and has lodged solemn representations with Japan.
