China's 2025 box office revenue surpassed 40 billion yuan ($ 5.61 billion) at 1:05 pm on September 13, with domestic films accounting for 88.8 percent, according to data from ticketing platform Maoyan on Saturday. 

The figure was reached 76 days earlier than in 2024, said Lai Li, a market analyst at Maoyan. "And all of the top 10 are domestic films," he added. 

The top three highest-grossing films are Ne Zha 2 with 15.44 billion yuan, Detective Chinatown 1900 with 3.61 billion yuan and Dead to Rights with 2.96 billion yuan.
