The China Association of Communication Enterprises (CACE) on Sunday expressed its firm support for the commence ministry's announcement on Saturday to launch an anti-dumping investigation into certain US analog chips and a separate anti-discrimination investigation into US trade measures affecting China's integrated circuit sector.
According to a statement published on the association's official WeChat account, CACE said it fully supports the Chinese government taking necessary measures in accordance with the law to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of China's information and communications industry and enterprises.
On Saturday, MOFCOM issued a notice announcing the launch of an anti-dumping investigation on imports of certain analog chips originating from the US, as well as an anti-discrimination investigation concerning US measures in China's integrated circuit sector.
For some time, the US government has repeatedly overstretched the concept of national security and misused export controls and "long-arm jurisdiction," imposing a series of unfair restrictions and prohibitions on China in the semiconductor and related fields, the statement said.
"Such unilateral and discriminatory practices severely undermine the legitimate development rights of China's information and communications enterprises and disrupt the stability and security of global industrial and supply chains, which we strongly oppose," it added.
In accordance with Chinese laws and regulations, as well as World Trade Organization rules, the Chinese government has the right to conduct investigations into imported products suspected of dumping and to take countermeasures against any discriminatory trade practices, per the statement.
CACE will actively organize and promote its member companies to cooperate with investigative authorities, providing necessary assistance and industry information, jointly safeguarding a fair, just, and non-discriminatory international trade environment, per the association.
The healthy development of the information and communications industry relies on an open, fair, and orderly market competition environment, the statement pointed out, calling on the global industry to work together to oppose all forms of protectionism and unilateral sanctions, and to promote sustainable and mutually beneficial development through technological innovation, industrial chain coordination, and international cooperation.
