Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian
Asked to comment on media report that US Democrats have asked the Trump administration to press China to curb "structural overproduction," claiming any bilateral trade deal should include "binding requirements" on Beijing to reduce industrial overcapacity, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday that "we have repeatedly stated that hyping up the so-called 'overcapacity in China' deviates from objective facts and economic laws, provides an excuse for protectionism, and its real purpose is to curb China's high-quality development. We firmly oppose this."
