Russia downs over 300 Ukrainian drones: defense ministry

Russia's air defense systems shot down over 300 Ukrainian drones over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

"Air defense assets downed five precision-guided bombs, one U.S.-made HIMARS rocket, and 314 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said in a morning release.

Later, the ministry issued an updated statement, reporting that between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Moscow Time (0800-1000 GMT), on-duty air defense assets destroyed 20 additional Ukrainian fixed-wing drones: 17 over the Belgorod region, two over the Bryansk region, and one over the Oryol region.

According to the ministry, since the start of its special military operation, a total of 667 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 88,048 drones, 631 missile systems, 25,351 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,592 multiple rocket launchers, 30,176 field artillery pieces and mortars, as well as 43,185 specialized military vehicles have been destroyed.
