By Brasil 247 - During the conference "China, Latin America and the Caribbean in the Global Reordering," organized by the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (Flacso) and held at BNDES headquarters in Rio de Janeiro on October 2-3, journalist Leonardo Attuch, editor of Brasil 247, emphasized the centrality of the Global South in shaping a new international order rooted in peace and cooperation among nations.
"Scholars, policymakers and engaged citizens should take pride in acting as pioneers of world peace," Attuch said, underscoring the need for unity among countries of the Global South in confronting war, inequality and neocolonial power structures.
Communication, consensus and global integrationAttuch also reflected on his recent trip to China, where he interviewed Dilma Rousseff, president of the New Development Bank (NDB), and visited several local media organizations. "While Western media fosters conflict, Chinese media builds consensus and social harmony. Private communication is always co-opted by private interests," he noted.
He added that Brasil 247 maintains editorial partnerships with outlets such as People's Daily, the Global Times, and Xinhua, and co-organizes events during BRICS summits in Brazil. These initiatives, he said, are part of a broader movement toward cultural, ideological and media integration between China and Latin America.
