4 dead, 12 injured in US Mississippi shooting

At least four people were killed and 12 others injured in a shooting early Saturday morning in Leland, Mississippi, according to media reports.

Leland Mayor John Lee told CBS News that the shooting happened around midnight, and four of the injured people were airlifted to local hospitals. There was no immediate information about their condition.

The mayor said the shooting happened on a main street of the town, where people came for Leland High School's homecoming game against Charleston High School.

Leland is a small city in Washington County with a population of about 4,000, CBS News cited 2020 census data.

There are no suspects in custody and the investigation is ongoing, according to the report.
