At the Foreign Ministry's Regular Press Conference on October 21, a reporter asked that Sanae Takaichi has just been elected Japan's prime minister. What is the Foreign Ministry’s comment on this? What is China’s expectation for her? How will China-Japan relations be influenced?

对此，发言人郭嘉昆表示，我们注意到有关选举结果，这是日本的内部事务。中日两国互为近邻，中方在中日关系上的基本立场是一贯明确的，希望日方同中方相向而行，恪守中日四个政治文件各项原则，信守在历史、台湾等重大问题上的政治承诺，维护双边关系政治基础，全面推进中日战略互惠关系。

In response, spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated, "We have taken note of the relevant election results. This is Japan’s internal affair. China and Japan are close neighbors. China's position on China-Japan relations is consistent and clear. We hope that Japan will work with China in the same direction, abide by the principles set out in the four political documents between China and Japan, honor its political commitments on major issues such as history and the Taiwan question, uphold the political foundation of bilateral relations, and comprehensively advance the China-Japan strategic relationship of mutual benefit."
