Ten people are in hospital - with nine believed to have life-threatening injuries - following a stabbing attack on board a Doncaster to King's Cross train in the UK on local time Saturday evening, according to latest update by the Sky News. Cambridge Police also confirmed with the BBC that "armed officers attended and the train was stopped at Huntingdon, where two men were arrested."

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer reacted and described the incident as "deeply concerning" in a post on X. "The appalling incident on a train near Huntingdon is deeply concerning," read the post.

"My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response. Anyone in the area should follow the advice of the police," the prime minister said in the post.

The identities of the two people who were arrested in connection with the attack have also not been released, the BBC reported.

In an update from British Transport Police, Chief Superintendent Chris Casey called the stabbing attack a "shocking incident", but said he was unable to speculate on the cause, per the BBC.

Previously, police said that they have declared a "major incident," and the investigation is being supported by counter-terrorism officers as they work to establish a motive.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER), which operates east coast mainline services in the UK, confirmed the incident had happened on one of its trains and has urged passengers not to travel because of "major disruption." Huntingdon station is closed, National Rail said, with all lines blocked, the Guardian reported.

According to the Guardian, LNER said "We are experiencing major disruption across the LNER route. Emergency services are dealing with an incident at Huntingdon station; all lines are blocked. Our advice is 'Do Not Travel.' Please defer your travel where you can."
