China's logistics index remained in expansion territory in October, as domestic consumption potential continued to be unleashed amid policy support, according to data released by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) on Tuesday, state broadcaster CCTV News reported.

The index tracking the country's logistics market, an indicator of economic vitality, stood at 50.7 in October, down 0.5 from the previous month but remaining in expansion territory, the data showed.

Due to the long holidays in October, industrial logistics demand represented by bulk commodities experienced a certain decline, but consumer logistics demand demonstrated accelerated growth momentum, said He Hui, a deputy head of the CFLP.

Key sub-indices including the new orders index, logistics service price index and expectations index all remained within the expansion zone, He said.

Last month, consumer logistics demand emerged as a highlight, according to the report. During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, physical stores, social platforms and e-commerce platforms synergized to stimulate consumption potential, driving accelerated commercial circulation and rapid retail sales growth.

E-commerce activities remained highly active, with the postal and express delivery industry's total business volume index reaching 70.5, rising by 0.4 month-on-month, the CFLP data showed.

Logistics infrastructure investment has maintained an expansionary trend and enterprises' business activity expectations index remained in a high prosperity range, reflecting sustained optimism toward the sector's full-year performance.

In October, the sub-index measuring fixed-asset investment completion volume reached 55.2. staying within the expansionary range.

Indices for railway transport, road transport, air transport, pipeline transport and postal express delivery all remained above 50, the data showed.
