President of Cote d'Ivoire's Constitutional Council Chantal Camara on Tuesday officially confirmed incumbent President Alassane Ouattara as the winner of the presidential election held on Oct. 25 during a ceremony in Abidjan, the country's largest city.

"Candidate Alassane Ouattara is declared elected in the first round as president of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire," Camara announced in a statement.

According to the Constitutional Council, Ouattara secured 89.77 percent of the votes.

According to the country's Independent Electoral Commission, Ouattara garnered 3,759,030 votes out of a total of 4,187,318 valid ballots cast, with turnout reaching 50.1 percent among the 8.7 million registered voters in Cote d'Ivoire and abroad.

Ouattara, 83, previously served as governor of the Central Bank of West African States and as deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund. He was prime minister of Cote d'Ivoire from 1990 to 1993 and won the 2010 presidential election, officially taking office the following year. He was re-elected in 2015 and again in 2020.
