Former Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Enany was elected as the director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The UNESCO General Conference made the announcement on Thursday in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
