"If Japan insists on going its own way and continues to go further down the wrong path, China will resolutely take necessary measures, and Japan will bear all the consequences," He Yongqian, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce, said on Thursday at a regular press conference, when asked to comment on Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent erroneous remarks concerning the island of Taiwan, which have already seriously and negatively affected China-Japan economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, and on whether China is considering taking economic countermeasures against relevant Japanese individuals or entities in accordance with China's Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law and other relevant laws and regulations.
"Recently, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi openly made erroneous remarks on Taiwan-related issues, fundamentally undermining the political foundation of China-Japan relations and bringing serious negative impact on economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. China urges Japan to adopt a responsible attitude toward history and China-Japan relations, withdraw its erroneous remarks and actions, earnestly fulfill its commitments to China, and create a favorable environment for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries," the Commerce Ministry spokesperson stated.
