As the global drive toward a "green economy" and carbon neutrality gains momentum, the circular economy has become a crucial direction for industrial transformation. Zhou Qi, a young entrepreneur and general manager of Hong Kong Easy Joyce Limited, is leading his team to explore an innovative path of green development for the world. Through continuous technological innovation in the recycling and reuse of waste metals, hardware, and automobiles, Zhou is promoting an innovative model that contributes to global circular growth.
Coming from a family deeply engaged in the renewable resources industry, Zhou grew up immersed in its evolution and transformation. After joining the enterprise, he worked with his father, Mr Zhou Zhengxin, to advance company's transformation and upgrading in line with modern recycling standards and global environmental trends. In 2018, Zhou founded Easy Joyce, marking a major step into the international market, and strengthening its role in promoting innovation and internationalization within the renewable resources industry.
Within just a few years, Easy Joyce has grown into a medium-sized enterprise with an annual revenue exceeding 100 million yuan ($14.1 million), with more than 30 employees and multiple self-built factories with a total area of 3,000 square meters. Its operations cover the recycling, dismantling, reprocessing, and international trade of scrap metals and hardware, forming a complete industrial chain of "resource recovery-dismantling and processing-regeneration-international sales." This system not only improves resource utilization efficiency but also significantly reduces carbon emissions from industrial production, providing a practical pathway toward global sustainable development goals.
With a vision to build a stable global network for resource circulation, Zhou has led Easy Joyce's expansion far beyond China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. This strategy is demonstrated by the establishment of several copper and aluminum recycling bases and was complemented in 2024 by a major non-ferrous metal recycling project with a total investment of 50 million yuan.
Today, Zhou and his company have established long-term partnerships with enterprises in Japan, Germany, Spain, Malaysia, Dubai of UAE, Singapore, Colombia, and Kosovo, forming an international trade network that spans Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and South America. This model has been successfully replicated in multiple regions and has become a benchmark example of Chinese enterprises advancing "green globalization."
While driving industrial development, Zhou has also been active on the international stage, participating in major forums and exhibitions in the field of the circular economy to promote cooperation and exchange. He attended the ISRI Annual Convention & Exposition 2024 and the ITAD Summit 2025, joining global enterprises to explore the integration of electronic waste recycling and metal recovery, and to provide more forward-looking solutions for emerging green industries. Within the circular economy, all resources such as metals, electronics, and energy carriers possess the potential for redefinition. This idea is coalescing into a consensus, propelling a paradigm shift across the sector - the circular economy now constitutes not merely an industry, but a fundamental change in human cognition. The momentum of global green transformation is now irreversible. According to the World Bank, the global renewable resources industry is expected to exceed $1.5 trillion by 2030. Zhou has said that he firmly believes that China's practical experience and development model in the circular economy have the potential to go global, leading industrial upgrading and promoting broader international cooperation in green development.
Looking ahead, Zhou hopes to foster international collaboration, enabling more nations to participate in shared systems for recycling waste metals and renewable resources. This is fundamentally about helping the Earth achieve a new balance - a fundamental transformation in human thinking that extends far beyond any single career.
