Ling Ji, vice minister of China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and deputy China international trade representative, met with Henri Poupart-Lafarge, chairman and CEO of Alstom on Tuesday, the ministry said on its website on Wednesday.
Ling said that China is accelerating the development of new quality productive forces and promoting the transformation of its manufacturing industry toward high-end, intelligent and green development. With the continuous improvement of China's urbanization level, the prospects for rail transit development are broad. The Chinese government encourages foreign investment in advanced rail transit equipment and hopes that Alstom will continue to deepen its presence in the Chinese market and work together with Chinese companies to jointly explore third-country markets.
Poupart-Lafarge said that thanks to the strong support of the Chinese government, Alstom has achieved excellent results from its investment and operations in China. During this visit to China accompanying French President Emmanuel Macron, the company will sign new commercial agreements with Chinese partners, he said, according to the MOFCOM.
The firm is fully confident in Alstom's long-term development in China and will continue to increase localized investment, as well as remaining committed to technological cooperation and further reinvestment, and joining hands with Chinese companies to cooperate in third-country markets, Poupart-Lafarge noted, per the MOFCOM.
