Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Ren Hongbin on Wednesday led a Chinese business delegation to attend a meeting with the US Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) and its member companies, according to the CCPIT on Thursday.
The meeting comes as a Chinese business delegation organized by the CCPIT has recently travelled to the US at the invitation of US counterparts, according to the Xinhua News Agency. A Chinese expert noted that such commercial engagement aligns closely with the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and can help stabilize the broader bilateral relationship.
During the Wednesday meeting, Ren and SIA President and CEO John Neuffer exchanged views on topics such as advancing China-US cooperation in the semiconductor sector, strengthening multilateral collaboration, and safeguarding the stability and resilience of global industrial and supply chains, a post on the CCPIT's official WeChat account said.
SIA Vice President for Global Policy Mary Thornton, along with representatives from companies including Qualcomm, GlobalFoundries, onsemi, Nokia, Synopsys, Emerson, and accompanying Chinese business representatives, attended the meeting, per the CCPIT post.
On the same day, the CCPIT also arranged for a Chinese business delegation to exchange views and hold discussions with the US-China Business Council (USCBC) and its member companies in Washington DC, according to a separate CCPIT post on its WeChat account on Thursday.
Ren, who led the delegation, said that for half a century, the CCPIT and the USCBC have maintained close communication and cooperation, and have made positive contributions to strengthening the ties between Chinese and US enterprises, promoting bilateral trade and economic exchanges, and advancing the development of China-US relations.
Ren said that the CCPIT stands ready to work with the USCBC to jointly implement important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries during their meeting in Busan, South Korea, continue serving as a driver of China-US friendship, a promoter of mutually beneficial cooperation, and a guardian of stable and unimpeded global industrial and supply chains.
He added that the CCPIT will contribute to deeper exchanges and cooperation between the business communities of both countries and help open a new and more successful chapter for the next 50 years.
USCBC President Sean Stein, who attended the meeting, said that the US business community remains a steadfast voice for engagement and exchanges between the two countries. China's hosting of the APEC meeting in 2026 presents new opportunities for deeper cooperation, he said, adding that US companies are eager to participate constructively and pragmatically in that - whether through policy exchanges, business dialogues or technical discussions - and will continue to play an active role, according to the CCPIT post.
More than 80 people participated in the meeting, including representatives from US companies such as FedEx, Thermo Fisher Scientific, PayPal, ExxonMobil, and Eurogallon, as well as representatives from Chinese companies such as China Post Express & Logistics, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Air China, Sany Group, and Pop Mart, according to the CCPIT.
In a separate post on Wednesday, the CPPIT noted that despite shifts in the global economic and trade landscape, companies from both countries continue to show a strong willingness to cooperate.
For example, Enrique Lores, president and CEO of HP Inc, said that "HP has a solid manufacturing base in China, and these operations serve customers in China and many other markets worldwide." He added that the company, which currently operates its largest global computer and printer production bases in the country, will continue to deepen its presence in China, according to the CCPIT post.
"The US is a major global toy market, and its designer toy segment holds immense potential and influence. US pop culture also carries significant global impact," Wen Deyi, vice president of the Pop Mart Group and president of Pop Mart International, was quoted by the CCPIT post as saying.
On November 27, 2025, Pop Mart participated in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time, becoming the first Chinese brand to feature an original pop-toy IP character on a parade float, the company told the Global Times in a statement.
This series of business engagements aligns with the direction set by the two leaders during their October 30 meeting, He Weiwen, a senior fellow at the Center for China and Globalization, told the Global Times on Thursday. "It underscores that deeper corporate cooperation can help stabilize the broader bilateral relationship and reflects the structural nature of China-US economic ties - a foundation shaped by objective realities that political forces alone cannot reverse," He Weiwen said.
He Weiwen stressed that sustained high-level dialogue and steady working-level communication between the two governments remain essential, while closer exchanges between provinces and states can further strengthen practical ties. The expert also noted that the business community forms the central pillar of the bilateral economic relationship, supported by people-to-people, educational and think-tank engagement that helps maintain channels of trust and understanding.
