The leading young innovators in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) across the global energy sector were unveiled on December 4 at the 8th Energy Industry Annual Conference (EIAC) 2025, hosted by China Energy News and the China Energy Research Society (CERS), with the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance China Council as co-organizer. The much-watched list of Top 30 Innovative ESG Young Energy Leaders was formally announced at the event.
The Top 30 Innovative ESG Young Energy Leaders was jointly launched by China Energy News, the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance China Council, the Suzhou Industrial Park Urban Development Institute, and the China Institute of Energy Economics to identify and promote exemplary ESG practices by young entrepreneurs in the energy sector, showcase model cases to encourage more companies to pursue green, low-carbon and sustainable development, and support global climate governance and the broader energy transition.
Against a backdrop of accelerating global carbon-neutrality efforts and the ongoing energy transition, ESG has become a key benchmark for corporate social responsibility and sustainable performance. A new generation of young entrepreneurs, marked by both innovation and a strong sense of responsibility, is rapidly emerging. According to Li Wenjie, deputy director of the Suzhou Industrial Park Urban Development Institute, the selection process included nominations, screenings and expert reviews, with evaluations based on innovation, effectiveness, demonstrative value and overall impact. He noted that the list not only highlights the achievements of young energy leaders in technological innovation and sustainable development, but also offers practical, scalable solutions for the global energy transition.
