A foreign media reporter asked: Japan’s Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi expressed “serious concerns” over Chinese and Russian military aircraft flying over Japanese and South Korean airspace during his video meetings with the NATO secretary general and Italy’s defense minister. What is China’s comment on this?

郭嘉昆对此表示，关于中俄联合巡航的情况，中国国防部已经发布了有关的消息，我们昨天也已经做出了回应。我想再次强调的是，此次中俄联合空中战略巡航是年度合作计划的项目，展示了双方共同应对地区安全挑战，维护地区和平稳定的决心与能力。日方没必要大惊小怪，对号入座。

Guo said that China’s Ministry of National Defense has already released information regarding the China–Russia joint air strategic patrol, and the Foreign Ministry also provided a response yesterday.

“I would like to reiterate that this China–Russia joint strategic air patrol is part of the annual cooperation plan. It demonstrates both sides’ determination and capability to jointly address regional security challenges and safeguard regional peace and stability. There’s no need for Japan to overreact or to read things into it,” the spokesperson said.
