Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun

China firmly opposes illegal unilateral sanctions and long-arm jurisdiction that lack a basis in international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council, and opposes the abuse of sanctions, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Friday.

Guo made the remarks when asked to comment on the US' seizure of an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela carrying Venezuela oil, and the US Treasury Department's sanctions on six oil tankers, including one flagged by Hong Kong.
