When asked to comment about the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) released the results of its Section 301 investigation into Chinese semiconductor policies and announced additional tariffs on certain Chinese semiconductor products, and the current tariff rate is zero, and it will be increased after 18 months, in June 2027, He Yongqian, spokesperson of China's Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday that China has taken note of the situation and has lodged stern representations with the US through the China-US economic, trade consultation mechanism, stressing that China does not agree with the so-called conclusions of the US 301 investigation and firmly opposes the imposition of Section 301 tariffs on Chinese semiconductor products.
He Yongqian said that US unilateral tariffs violate WTO rules, undermine the international trade order, disrupt global industrial and supply chains, and harm the interests of American companies and consumers — a policy that harms others without benefiting itself, urging the US to promptly correct its erroneous actions and revoke the related measures.
China is willing to resolve concerns through equal dialogue and consultations with the US, based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, noting that if the US insists on harming China's rights and interests, China will firmly take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its own rights and interests, said the spokesperson.
