The European Commission on Monday opened a new formal investigation into X under the Digital Services Act, and broadened an ongoing probe that began in December 2023 to scrutinize the platform's compliance with EU rules governing recommender-system risk management.

The new investigation will assess whether the company properly assessed and mitigated risks associated with the deployment of Grok's functionalities into X in the EU.
