Asked to comment on reports that China has requested state-owned enterprises to suspend talks on new cooperation projects with Panama, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Friday at the regular press conference that China has previously stated its position on the relevant port issue in Panama on multiple occasions. "Our position is clear," Lin said, adding that for specific details, the inquirer should consult the relevant Chinese authorities.

In response to a question on Panama's Supreme Court ruling that CK Hutchison's concession is unconstitutional and CK Hutchison expressing disagreement with the ruling and saying it reserves the right to recourse to additional legal proceedings in the matter, Lin Jian said on Thursday's press conference that China will firmly defend the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of Chinese companies.
