A gunman who stormed a school in southern Thailand on Wednesday has been brought under control, with three people injured in the incident, local authorities said.
Thai police have brought under control the gunman who stormed the school in Hat Yai district, Songkhla province, on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Songkhla provincial public relations office.
Three individuals were wounded in the attack, including the school principal and a female student who were seriously injured. Another female student sustained minor injuries, according to Ratthasart Chidchoo, governor of Songkhla province. All three have been taken to hospital for treatment, according to local authority in Songkhla.
In its latest update, the office said that as of 18:38 local time, the suspect had been brought under control by police.
The suspect, a 17-year-old local male, was also injured and has been hospitalized. Authorities said he was mentally unstable and had received psychological treatment in December 2025. The motive for the attack may have stemmed from dissatisfaction with teachers at the school, according to preliminary information.
