Shangcheng, Henan - February 23 - Having cherished precious moments with their families during the Spring Festival, migrant workers began their return trips from Shangqiao Railway Station in Shangcheng County, Xinyang City, Henan Province on February 23. A safe electricity service station set up in the square outside the station and bright lights illuminating the streets have become warm symbols of this festive season.

During the Spring Festival holiday, Shangqiao Town saw a large-scale return of migrant workers, with a total of 12,000 people coming back to their hometown. The once quiet town has regained its vibrancy thanks to the homecoming residents. Electric skillets cooked delicious local dishes, air conditioners sent out warm airflow, and electric heaters dried special purchases for the festival. Behind this lively scene, however, electricity demand has been rising quietly.

Since late January 2026, the evening peak power load in areas with a high concentration of returnees has increased by more than 45% compared with normal levels and the festive atmosphere relies heavily on a stable and reliable power supply.

To ensure safe and stable electricity for returning residents, State Grid Shangcheng County Power Supply Company has put in place targeted power support measures in advance. In accordance with the requirements of the work safety improvement campaign, the company has carried out 24-hour real-time monitoring of 10kV and low-voltage power lines in key returnee areas through an electricity consumption information system, scientifically analyzing load trends and comprehensively improving power supply capacity.

At the same time, the company has upgraded power infrastructure by building new distribution transformers and expanding the capacity of existing ones, effectively easing power supply pressure and ensuring the normal operation of household appliances.

To address potential household electricity safety risks for returning families, the company launched door-to-door inspections and volunteer services. At the busy railway station, staff distributed brochures on safe electricity use to passengers, promoting safe power consumption to thousands of households.

From the peak homecoming period to the Spring Festival holiday, the power security measures implemented in Shangqiao Town have achieved remarkable results. Solid power support has underlined the strong festive atmosphere and conquered the hearts of all homecoming residents.
