Lantern Festival coincides with the year's only total lunar eclipse

On March 3, the Lantern Festival — celebrated on the 15th day of the first month in the Chinese lunar calendar — coincided with the only total lunar eclipse of the year. A glowing “blood moon” rose high in the night sky, adding a rare sense of romance and spectacle to the traditional celebration.
