Ex-Spanish PM wins applause for declaring it's brave and patriotic to say No to US president

Former Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero backed the government of Pedro Sánchez during a campaign rally in Sahagún, León province, Spain on March 6, 2026, voicing support for the government’s “no to war” stance over the US war against Iran, according to RTVE. Zapatero said one must be brave and patriotic to say “no” to the president of the US, and stressed that in Spain, the Spanish government makes the decisions. His remarks drew several rounds of applause.
