“81192, Please Return”: China Still Remembers Wang Wei 25 Years Later

"81192, please return!" Wang Wei, a People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy pilot who was forced to parachute into the sea and died after a collision with a US aircraft while defending the nation’s airspace, is still remembered today. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the sacrifice of Wang Wei, people continue to lay flowers and pay tribute at his memorial monument. In front of the hero's tomb, various models of domestically produced fighter jets are also placed in remembrance.
