China urges caution as UN Security Council set to vote on reopening Hormuz, potentially with force

Chinese UN ambassador Fu Cong urged the UN Security Council to “act with caution” and play a positive role in de-escalating the situation and restoring dialogue and negotiations on Thursday local time. As the US-Israeli-war against Iran triggered the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the UN Security Council is scheduled to vote Friday on a resolution to reopen the critical water way, potentially with the use of “all necessary means.”
