U.S. President Donald Trump threatened on Tuesday morning that Iran's "whole civilization will die tonight," a deadline he set for Iran to make a deal and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, signaling a possible sharp escalation of the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.
"A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will," Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social.
He said that Tuesday night would be "one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World."
The 80-year-old president claimed that the United States has already achieved "Complete and Total Regime Change" in Iran, asserting that the republic, established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, "will finally end."
