In response to a question about claims made by Michael Kratsios, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, in a Thursday memo that "US government has information indicating that foreign entities, principally based in China, are engaged in deliberate, industrial-scale campaigns to distill US frontier AI systems," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said during a regular press conference on Friday that the relevant US claims are groundless and are a smear against the achievements of China's AI industry development, to which China expresses its firm opposition.

"We urge the US side to respect facts, abandon prejudice, stop the technological suppression of China, and do more things that are conducive to scientific and technological exchange and cooperation between the two countries," said the spokesperson.
