Chinese battery-maker BYD announced Thursday that it would cooperate with cellphone maker Nokia in replacing 14 million faulty cellphone chargers, and would cover all related costs.

The replacement will not affect the company's financial situation and future business, BYD said in an announcement Thursday.

A statement from Nokia said 14 million chargers made by BYD would be replaced because they could fall apart.

"The plastic covers of the affected chargers could come loose and separate, exposing the charger's internal components and potentially posing an electrical shock hazard if certain internal components are touched while the charger is plugged into a live socket," said Nokia's statement Monday.
