Volvo car sales increase substantially

Sales of the Swedish brand Volvo personal cars in April reached 21,204, an increase of 36 percent, compared with the same period of last year, according to a report from the Swedish News Agency TT on Tuesday.

According to European car statistics Acea, during the first four months this year, the total registered Volvo cars reached 81, 081, up 24.6 percent compared with the same period last year. Last year the first four months' sales of Volvo cars were 65,075.

Volvo Personal Cars press officer Per Ake Froberg revealed the success of the petrol cars and the city jeep XC 60.

"Demand is bigger than what we can produce, the waiting time is about three month," Froberg said.

Volvo plans to sell about 390,000 cars compared with 334,800 last year.

Volvo PV inked a purchase contract with Chinese car company Geely at the end of March.
