Construction and agricultural equipment, auto parts and household appliances from about 90 Chinese companies were exhibited here Wednesday, attracting interest in Uzbekistan, which is upgrading its economy.

In an opening speech, Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jiang Yan said the exhibition will allow businessmen of the two countries to establish direct and closer ties, strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in the field of mechanical and electronic products, and deepen the development of practical bilateral cooperation.

Islam Jasimov, deputy chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, said the exhibition, covering an area of more than 4,000 square meters, is being held at the right time.

At present, Uzbekistan is upgrading its economy and is interested in modern equipment and technologies made in China.

"Many sectors of Uzbekistan are ready to consider the proposals of Chinese manufacturers of high-tech equipment for the modernization and equipment of the production process," said Jasimov.

"At this year's show, local consumers' strong interest and demand for agricultural machinery products increased the company's confidence in the development of the country," a representative from an agricultural machinery company in east China's Jiangsu province who declined to be named said.

The exhibition, which will run through June 14, was sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, and organized by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products.

China is Uzbekistan's largest trading partner. According to China Customs Statistics, the bilateral trade volume between China and Uzbekistan reached 6.26 billion U.S. dollars in 2018, a year-on-year increase of 48.4 percent.
